The Iowa State Fair elevated its interactive experiences in 2024 with several engaging new features designed to captivate and entertain visitors. This fair showcased VAEZR Studio’s interactive elements, creating an unforgettable experience for attendees of all ages.

Large Activated Mural

The fan-favorite interactive mural returned to the Iowa State Fair for another year. Following the overwhelming success of the previous year, VAEZR Studio partnered again with Lashier Graphics to bring attendees another photo experience. Located on the side of the Jacobson Exhibition Center, the mural used augmented reality technology to come to life. Visitors snapped activated photos and interacted with the mural using their smartphones as it came alive. The artwork aligned with the fair’s theme, featuring vibrant imagery that captured the spirit of Fair Fever.” Throughout the fair, the activation changed regularly, offering a new experience each day.

Visitors found this experience on the exterior wall of the Jacobson Exhibition Center, located in the southwest corner of the fairgrounds.

Iowa Food and Family Project Interactive Exhibit

Fairgoers stopped by the Varied Industries Building for another VAEZR Studio experience that wowed audiences. VAEZR Studio teamed up with the Iowa Food and Family Project to create an interactive learning experience. Guests colored a coloring sheet featuring an animal or crop, scanned it using a designated scanner, and watched their artwork appear as an animated element on a large screen display. The display showcased the organizations that make up the Iowa Food and Family Project by sharing fun facts and highlighting the roles they play within Iowa’s agricultural industry.

Additionally, visitors experienced Iowa Food and Family swag in a new way. Each bag included a QR code linking to a website featuring an engaging animation of the farm-to-table process, bringing Iowa’s agricultural story to life.

Located in the Atrium of the Varied Industries Building, the Iowa Food and Family Project provided an immersive and educational experience to fairgoers of all ages.

Interactive Social Media Filters

The Iowa State Fair’s social media presence was enhanced with a series of fun and interactive filters on Facebook and Instagram. Highlights included:

  • Guess the Emoji Game: Users tried to decipher emoji combinations representing different fair elements.
  • Blind Rank: Participants ranked 11 new fair foods presented in random order.
  • Fair Fever Filter: A vibrant filter allowed users to snap photos with a background inspired by the fair’s theme.

These features enriched the fair experience by offering opportunities for creative engagement and social media fun.
